Trucks will be able to deliver more hay to drought-affected Riverina and Central West farmers, with Riverina MP Michael McCormack announcing longer and higher loads of fodder are now allowed to travel on state and national-controlled roads.
The new measures kicked in from midnight last night, meaning trucks up to a maximum height of 4.6 metres and 2.83 metres wide will no longer require a permit to access the existing state-controlled road networks.
Mr McCormack says it’s a practical step to support the large amounts of fodder coming in from Western Australia and Tasmania, to help drought affected areas of regional NSW.
