Controversy Continues at Council

GM stands aside on special paid leave

22 February 2017

The Founder of the Wagga Ratepayers Association, Wes Fang, says an investigation into allegations against General Manager Alan Eldridge should be carried out by the Office of Local Government.

A statement from Council, following Mr. Eldridge’s decision to temporarily step down, says the investigation into the controversial claims will be carried out by an investigator appointed by Council’s solicitors.

It’s expected a report will be handed to council by March 31, with Robert Knight appointed Acting General Manager in the meantime.

Mayor Greg Conkey says Mr. Eldridge offered to temporarily step aside to shield Council from any damage from the claims, and to protect his family from public vitriol.

He is on Special Paid Leave.
