The rider was injured in remote bushland

The Westpac Rescue Chopper has been involved in a tricky operation involving a dirt bike rider injured in remote bushland between Cessnock and Kurri Kurri.

Paramedics were unable to land the helicopter at the crash site, and were forced to take a 4WD to the man's location at around midday.

The 46-year-old was stabilised before members of the Cessnock RVA cleared some of the bush so he could be winched more than 120ft to safety.

He's in a stable condition in the John Hunter with internal injuries and multiple fractures.
