Hail Storm Leaves Blanket of White over Toowoomba

Short but severe

A hail storm ripped through Toowoomba last night leaving a blanket of ice as far as the eye could see.

It came down with ferocity around 7:30pm with BOM reporting hail as big as 3cm plummeting for the sky, hitting the Garden City and surrounding suburbs.

Today’s BOM forecast for the Darling Downs and Granite Belt:

Partly cloudy. High (70%) chance of showers over the Granite Belt and eastern ranges, medium (50%) chance elsewhere. The chance of gusty thunderstorms from late this morning, possibly severe.

Winds north to north easterly 20 to 30 km/h tending north to north westerly 15 to 20 km/h in the middle of the day then tending north to north easterly in the late afternoon. Daytime maximum temperatures 29 to 36.
