Emergency Departments across Murrumbidgee Local Health District are experiencing high demand, with patients across the district increasing from 29,901 in the April – June period last year to 30,310 in the same quarter this year.
The MLHD is working to accommodate patients through an increased budget and workforce.
The 2018/19 budget for Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) is over $606 million, which is $24.5 million more than the last financial year, and MLHD increased its workforce by 374 full time staff members.
These improvements seem to be working, with 84.9% of treatments commencing on time, and 81.2% of treatment durations decreasing to under 4 hours. Average ambulance transfer times have also decreased from 11 to 8 minutes.
In 2018-19 the NSW Government is investing a record $22.9 billion in health, representing a $1.1 billion increase over the 2017-18 Budget. This includes $19.2 billion towards improving services in hospitals in NSW this year.- MLHD
