Julie Bishop Has Announced Her Retirement From Politics

Julie Bishop has announced she won't re-contest her seat at the next election. 

She is not concerned this means one less woman in parliament as she has been contacted by a number of people, including a number of impressive women, interested in taking her place, if she chose not to re-contest.

The former Minister for Foreign affairs and former deputy leader of the Liberal Party was first elected Member of Parliament for Curtin in 1998. She was the first female foreign minister in Australia. 

During her announcement she said she said it was her view that the coalition would win the next election.
