Vegan menu options have quickly become the norm and every restaurant who hasn’t adapted to the shift in diets across the globe is getting left behind.
But for those who miss the finger-lickin’ taste of KFC since becoming vegan, some good news may be on the way.
In the US city of Atlanta this week, plant-based ‘meat’ company Beyond Meat has partnered up with KFC to provide vegan alternatives in a one-day trial.
“KFC Beyond Fried Chicken is so delicious, our customers will find it difficult to tell that it’s plant-based,” said Kevin Hochman, president and chief concept officer, KFC U.S.
“I think we’ve all heard ‘it tastes like chicken’ – well our customers are going to be amazed and say, ‘it tastes like Kentucky Fried Chicken!’”
Diners can choose between nuggets or boneless wings, as well as a variety of vegan sauces.
