A man is in hospital and two men have been charged over an attempted murder in BUCASIA. The 42 year old resident of a FISHER STREET unit was allegedly deliberately set alight inside his home WEDNESDAY night. He is currently in MACKAY hospital being treated for non-life threatening burns. Detective Inspector Brendan Smith says the men charged over the attack tricked the victim in order to come inside.

Several people are in hospital following a gas leak at the Sydney Street Markets. Emergency Services were called to the scene around 9:30 yesterday morning with reports of a strong gas smell. Acting Senior Operations Supervisor Erin Saltmarsh says the circumstances of the leak are still unknown. Businesses are open today as usual with the scene declared clear

 

It's a PAW-FECT day for MACKAY locals to get their animals registered tomorrow. The COUNCIL is putting on a PET REGISTRATION DAY down on GORDON STREET. There's also a best dressed pet competition on for the pampered pooches and fancy felines.. with a 200 dollar pet cafe gift voucher up for grabs.

It's been a tough season for the CUTTERS but they're hoping to turn it around. Suffering a 22 point defeat by the Sunshine Coast Falcons last week they are keen to redeem themselves. They'll face off Sunday against 11th ranked Tweed Head Seagulls on Southern soil
