A man's been charged with murder over the fatal stabbing of a good samaritan at Bolton Point on Sunday night.
Following a major manhunt, the 32-year-old was arrested at 7pm last night at Belmont McDonalds, just metres from Belmont Police Station.
He'll appear in Newcastle Local Court today.
He's accused of stabbing Glen Smith with a sword at a home in Leumeah Place, after the victim stepped in to help a woman trying to flee domestic violence. Mr Smith's devastated fiancee says the 35-year-old died in her arms. "I was rocking him in my arms and saying just breathe, just breathe. He opened his eyes and said 'I love you," Michelle Bell said.
