As of now Southern Downs residents will have to limit their daily drinking water intake to 120L per person per day.

The restrictions have been put in place in order to allow drinking water supplies in the region last as long as possible.

The decision comes as a result of a special council meeting held yesterday morning.

The restrictions don’t just apply to the limitations on drinking water, this also means that there is:

  • A total ban on watering outdoor plants and gardens
  • Topping up swimming pools
  • Using council drinking water on sporting fields
  • Car washing restricted to, cleaning mirrors, lights, glass and number plates in car with a bucket filled directly from the tap
